About Robin Chilton

For women navigating the changes no one really prepares you for.

Life doesn't always change in dramatic ways.

Sometimes it's a child growing up and needing you differently. A move to a new place, a shift in a relationship, returning to work, a loss, or finding yourself in circumstances you didn't expect and aren't quite sure how to navigate.

Even positive changes can leave you feeling uncertain, disconnected from yourself, or wondering who you are now.

Robin works with women navigating life's transitions and the emotional complexity that often comes with them.

Robin Chilton's Story

Robin came to therapy the way many people do: through her own experience of it.

She has had therapists who changed her life. That's not something she takes lightly, and it's a large part of why she does this work.

She knows what it feels like to sit in that chair, to not quite have the words for what's wrong, and to have someone help you find them anyway.

Her interest in life transitions isn't only professional either. In her 60s, Robin made a significant move from the suburbs to Brooklyn, a change that reminded her firsthand how vulnerable, uncertain, and unexpectedly alive major transitions can feel.

As a mother of three adult children, she has also lived through the quieter but equally disorienting shifts that come with watching your children grow up and your own identity reorganize around a life that keeps changing.

What she sees often in her work, and understands personally, is that even positive changes can bring grief, uncertainty, and real questions about who you are becoming. Those moments deserve attention. Not because something is wrong, but because they often mark the most important turning points in a person's life.

What It's Like to Work With
Robin Chilton

For Robin, therapy begins with a conversation grounded in curiosity, respect, and genuine interest in who you are.

She'll ask questions, wonder alongside you, and help make sense of what's living underneath the anxiety, grief, uncertainty, or tension you're carrying. And she'll bring herself into the room as a person, not just as a clinician.

Clients often describe appreciating her openness, the sense that they're talking to someone who has lived, not just someone who has trained.

You don't need to arrive with the right words or a perfectly articulated explanation of what you're feeling. Robin is comfortable sitting with what's unformed, unclear, or hard to name.

Over time, her hope is that things begin to feel clearer and lighter, not because someone told you what to do, but because you've had the opportunity to hear yourself more fully.

Robin's work is informed by psychodynamic theory, relational psychotherapy, family systems work, cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. She tailors therapy to the individual, balancing insight and reflection with practical support for the realities of everyday life.
